I grew up in Kennington, an area where it was very easy to get caught up in the local drugs and knife crime environment.
I was always the class clown at school and knew I liked performing in front of an audience, but I didn't have an outlet for being creative.
I came to Intermission Youth Theatre in 2012. Everyone seemed very comfortable around each other. There was very little hostility in the group which was very different to what I had experienced at college and in my local community.
Intermission really opened up my creative side. I started writing poetry. The Youth Theatre programme built me into a confident person and I started to believe in myself.
My time at Intermission gave me the drive and courage to pursue an acting career. I have appeared in The Watchman (Channel 4), Not on the High Street (commercial), and the lead role in the short film Urban Stories Vol.1: The Death of Laura Farmer. I'm also a performance poet.
