"Intermission, where can I start?
I heard about intermission from my cousin who was a graduate. It was 2022 and at the time I was pursuing a football career, but I had an interest in acting. I’d already attended Westminster College doing Performing Arts but when I started Intermission Youth in the same year, Darren, Nana and the Intermission Youth team were amazing. Darren and Nana guided and helped me find my passion for acting and I was amazed how well people collaborated with each other from different areas, all in one space – we become really good friends in 10 months.
I realised working on my acting craft is like doing sports and learning about people by body language and communication and learning from people also ‘turning judgement into curiosity’ (Intermission Youth’s iconic quote), Intermission Youth helped me as an actor, (being outside of my comfort zone) and also as a person and how I conduct myself in life and in the acting industry, teaching me valuable lessons that I continue to live by today.
Intermission Youth Theatre is a unique experience that I am happy to have had the opportunity to be a part of for 2 years with an amazing 2022 and 2023 cohort. As a graduate, Intermission Youth has given me opportunities that I am always grateful for. Darren and Nana and the Intermission Youth Team have helped me discover what I want to do and who I want to be. And when I need help, the Team are always there for me which I appreciate all the time.
Intermission is a second family to me – it’s where I started my acting career, and it will always be close to my heart. I am honoured to be a part a wonderful Theatre family.
I definitely recommend any young person that wants to do acting, come out of their comfort zone, gain confidence, become a public speaker, wants to have fun, meet new people - Intermission is the place to be."
